Is it really December? I am truly amazed. A year ago, we were madly getting the studio ready to open Createful in January—and here we are being Createful every week!
It has been a great, great year. So much creativity and art-making has come to pass—so many creative people have walked through those doors! I love what happens here in our small studio.
Whether for classes or workshops or our weekly art groups, brave, slightly wild-eyed people rush in the door.
It takes determination (and wisdom) to wrest time from full jobs, busy homes and complex lives to carve out creative time for ourselves!
There's often some initial heart fluttering as we face that darn blank surface (again..and again...)...but we turn up the music and settle down...
But a funny thing happens. We become immersed, even as we learn and demonstrate, chat and share and help each other make creative decisions. Then we go quiet again, back and forth...each of us jamming to our own creative call (whether we feel in tune with ourselves that day or not).
And then the most wonderful thing happens.
Someone points out the time.
What? Time to stop already?
And that's when I look around the room and I quietly smile inside.
The once tidy table is of course in complete disarray. (A good creative jam session leaves an explosion of art supplies everywhere.)
But the faces?
Ahhh...Composed. Serene. Even as the eyes dance about.
Truly—this is why we create—and this is why I so so SOOOO wanted Createful to open its doors.
And here we are.
