Studio Highlights Last Week

I'm really getting into Instagram. What a great way to share snapshots of moments in the studio—and I also get to share a little about my own arting journey in a way that I hope helps you think about yours! For those of you who aren't on Instagram—come join me!

Here is what happened last week...

We dove into experimentation mode last week in Art Fix and created a bevy of backgrounds using watercolor, acrylic paint, spray inks, mark making tools, embossing powder, stamps, found materials and more. I'm sorry to say, though, that with all those supplies flying around the room (I swear, some were floating around us mid-air!) I failed to snap any pictures of our work for Instagram!

Those mid-air shots? Darn, those would have been golden!

It's okay. We are going to USE those backgrounds for future Art Fix projects--including this week when we use photo transfers...so I'll have another Insta-opportunity this week (floating supplies or not).

Meanwhile, I started another 30 Day Challenge for myself.

I like to assign myself art challenges because part of my art practice is definitely about learning. I always want to learn and improve! This time, my challenge for the next 30 days is to spend time every day in one of my art journals (yes, there are several) experimenting with new forms and materials. Oh, and without judgement.

I have a list of art directions I've been wanting to explore in more depth, so here goes a month of trying new things and finding new creative paths...

Here's a little glimpse of my next 30 day challenge!

...experimenting in my art journal with new to me forms and materials...without self judgement...or at least without editing out that arm/hand wonkiness despite my inner "ugh". That counts!

Back to collage today, but this time I've challenged myself to create a face out of papers. Something entirely new to me, but I've wanted to try it for a long while.

So what are you doing to challenge yourself creatively? Let me know! You can follow me on Instagram (and I'll follow you!)

AND come on down to Art Fix class—where fun creative challenge happens every week!

Hope to see you soon,
